Krav Maga Classes in Bristol
Practical Self-Defence in a Supportive, Beginner-Friendly Environment
Krav Maga is a self-defence system focused on practical skills for real situations. At Bristol Titans Krav Maga, we offer training for adults of all experience levels, including complete beginners. Classes cover a mix of striking, grappling, and defensive scenarios — with an emphasis on safety, control, and gradual progression.
Training is physically and mentally challenging, but approachable. Many people join with no background in martial arts or fitness. The aim is to build confidence, awareness, and the ability to respond effectively under pressure.

About the Classes
Instructors
Classes are led by instructors with backgrounds in Krav Maga, Muay Thai, MMA, and other combat disciplines. The focus is on teaching practical skills in a structured and supportive environment.
What You’ll Learn
Training covers a range of self-defence scenarios, including:
Striking
Learn to use punches, elbows, knees, and kicks in simple, effective combinations. Pad drills and partner work help build timing, coordination, and technique.
→ More on striking techniques
Sparring
Sparring is optional and introduced gradually. It’s always supervised and controlled. The goal isn’t to win or compete, but to learn how to apply skills under pressure.
Grappling and Ground Defence
Classes include strategies for dealing with grabs, holds, and ground situations. This includes learning how to break away, stay calm, and return to your feet safely.
→ Combat grappling overview
Multiple Opponents and Weapon Defence
Some sessions explore how to respond to situations involving more than one attacker, or the presence of a weapon. These are taught with a focus on realistic awareness and decision-making, not scripted routines.
No Belts, No Competitions
Krav Maga is not a traditional martial art. There’s no belt system, no point scoring, and no tournaments. Progress is measured by your ability to respond more effectively and confidently over time — not by formal rankings.
Physical Demands
The classes are physically active and can be intense, but they’re designed to be accessible. You’ll build strength and fitness naturally through the training itself. There are no separate fitness circuits or conditioning drills — the movement and effort come from learning and practicing the techniques.
Who Attends?
People come to train for a variety of reasons — personal safety, stress management, interest in martial arts, or general fitness. The classes are mixed-gender and attended by people of all backgrounds, ages, and fitness levels.
The environment is focused, respectful, and welcoming. You’re not expected to be fit or experienced when you start.

Just Starting Out?
We regularly welcome beginners. If you’ve never trained in anything like this before, that’s completely fine. This guide to starting Krav Maga might be useful, as well as our page on self-defence for women.
How to Join
If you’re interested in training, you’re welcome to book a trial class. We don’t offer observation-only sessions, as we find it’s more useful to experience the training firsthand — even at a basic level.
You don’t need to be fit, experienced, or know anything about martial arts to get started. Just bring comfortable clothes and an open mind. You’ll be supported throughout by instructors and classmates.
